So I decided to go for meat today in the cold. Just stepped foot on ours and had four rackless deer jump up. A couple of them stopped at about 120 yards ( a doe and young one ). I pulled up and took a shot offhand. After the smoke cleared I saw two deer running away. I went over where the deer were and started following the trail that they took. No blood, no deer, . . .

I continued on the trail and then decided I must have missed and sat in my blind. Two and a half hours later with no sightings I decided to use the last bit of light to check one more time on my way back to the truck. I practically stepped on her. I am so glad that I looked again. She is the perfect eater and after sitting in the cold that long it was nice to get my hands in some warm insides.

Good luck if you are still out there guys. I have a bow tag left, but I think I might just look at your posts for the rest of the season.

Nice work on the follow up. Sometimes they run quite a ways without bleeding on the outside. Congrats again!

Nice job on the follow up.
I have noticed that especially with a muzzy that they will go a lot farther before they start to bleed out.

I may be finishing with meat as well. Nice to have a big doe to put in the freezer this time of year.

Agreed and way to stick with the follow up. Three of the deer I had to track in south Texas many years ago didn't start bleeding for 50-60 yards after the shot and that thornscrub is difficult to track in.

Congrats on finding your deer! My buddy shot one this last saturday that didn't bleed at all until about 20 yards before it fell over.
