Was set up this morning a little after 5:00. Didn't hear a gobble until 5:45. Had two toms in a ditch a couple hundred yards north of me and no birds where I was expecting them to be. I figured I would sit for a while and see what happened. We called back and forth for an hour or so and neither one of us would budge. I finally decided to circle around them to the other end of the ditch they were in. I picked out the most uncomfortable tree I could find to sit against and let out a few soft yelps. They both hammered back immediately. About 20 minutes later I see one of them strutting his way to me. I had to let him get past a deadfall and when he cleared it he got a face full of #5's at 8 yards. 23.9 lbs, 1-1/4" spurs and a 10-3/8 beard.
