A little bit of an additional challenge during the rut.

Of all the things to happen on Nov. 6th, yesterday while climbing up the tree to my stand I knocked a bit of bark loose from the tree I was ascending. Amazing, some particles avoiding the brim of my hat and the eyeglasses over my eyes and landed in my right (aiming) eye. I sat through the rest of the PM hunt and while slightly discomforted, still felt reasonably ok. After getting home, the eye became more and more discomforted. An attempt to rinse the eye in the shower seemed to actually make things worse. I went to bed with the hope that a nights rest would make a world of difference. Well, by 2:00 am, it was different alright but in a BAD way. I awoke this morning basically unable to open my right (dominant) eye. This morning I visited a friend who is my eye doctor and he informed me that my cornea is severely scratched and I had developed an infection in the eye also. Treatment is a clear contact over the cornea to protect it from more damage (I don't normally wear contacts) and hourly eye drops of antibiotics (costly stuff at $85/3ml) !!!

Hopefully tonight after work I can shoot my bow and evaluate my opportunities to get back in the stand. I can't believe my "good fortune". I guess God works in mysterious ways and for some reason this challenge has been presented before me to see how I handle it. So far, my attitude is it's early and I will try to do what I can but not do anything stupid. Hopefully, I can get back to 100% or close to it and get something in a shooting lane that I feel like drawing back on before the rut's over.

Thats pretty unfortunite news. Ive had my share of eye problems and its never any fun. Good luck tho. hope you can get back out soon.

Hope you can still make it work. Never now the reason for a lot of things like that, but I'm sure there is a perfect reason for it whether we can see it or not.

I had the same thing happen with a sliver of sheet metal a few years back. After a couple of days with the eye drops and the little lens they put on I was good to go. Good luck and I hope your eye heals as fast as mine did!

Sorry you are going through that but you should be good to go in another 24 hours:)

One thing about the cornea, hurts bad but heals quick!

Me, too. Also, like Huntyak said, the cornea heals quickly. Good luck and now stick a monster!

I'm dealing with a very similar problem right now. The eye does heal quickly. God does have a way of reminding us those antlers aren't as important as we like to make them, doesn't He?

you will make it back out and you will shoot a monster brent...hang in there and again thanks for everything last week....
