A Little Early For Ticks?

I took the dog out today for a run. Got him home and pulled not one but 2 ticks off of him. I thought the high today was like 30. Anyone ever heard of ticks this early especially when its this cold?

you just made my skin crawl... i think i might have to hate you now. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

A couple years ago when we had a day in the 50's in January I pulled 1 off the black lab after walking him through the tall grass.

I can remember finding a tick or two in mid-March on a particularly nice sunny day, but February is pretty early. Man I hate those things!

I thought with the cold and deep frost this winter, the ticks would be down in numbers? Never mind the ticks,,at least you can see them. Aftert ticks come the,,,Chiggers,,,! A definate, HELL sent insect, that you can't see. Don't say they are all early. I have fence to put in and cannot get started, until the frost goes out.

There out here too, had one on me Monday, 35 degrees out & one off the dog yesterday. They are pretty hardy & can go dormant for two years if they had to. I'd rather deal with them than I would CHIGGERS, hate them things!
