A little early

Last year was a really bad year for me and ticks. My 2nd season gobbler was covered in them...and so was I! Camping in October and then hunting in November was bad, too. They were everywhere. Nothing like dressing up in winter hunting clothes, walking to the stand in freezing temps and then watching dozens of tiny ticks crawl all over you.

That is something! In Nov too? I hunted southern IA last of Oct and Nov and didn't see any. In fact first of Sept seemed to be few anymore. I assumed they had a prime season, and then died off some. Guess I was lucky?

Severity of winters must have something to do with it. I was first introduced to ticks when I dated my wife, down in Memphis. We had a picnic, ended early by hords of ticks. I wrote the Tenn DNR and asked how anyone could live out in the country down there. They told me ticks had increased to ugly levels, mainly due to the continued MILD Winters. So severity of winters must kill some of them, I don't know?
