Advice on killing poison ivy…

Pops

I have sprayed some well established poison ivy a half dozen times over the summer. I’ve left it alone for a month and allowed some new growth. I’ve used only Roundup. I have both Roundup and Tordon RTU available. Some of the vines are the size of my ring finger.
What herbicide(s) can I use to finish this stuff off in my flower bed? I have some shrubs to plant in a month or so. Thanks!

The residual of Tordon would make me nervous. I’ve been cutting poison ivy vines close to the ground and treating the stump with concentrated RU. I wear rubber gloves. This is for small areas at base of apple trees, in Hostas, etc. and would not attempt on a huge patch.

It does not sound like this approach will suit your current need situation, but...I still remember the longtime Naturalist at the Indian Creek Nature Center, Rich Patterson, telling us in a seminar that he was leading back in the day..."that poison ivy HATES fire...".

Just a FWIW.

Triclopyr

Brand names garlon, remedy.
I’m leaning towards REMEDY. Plenty of good suggestions. Fire is out since I’m working around a wooden fence. I don’t know where to get ahold of a goat.
I’ve done a little looking around but it’s been a long day and I’m lazy. Can I buy a fairly small amount somewhere and not spend much?

This might work but cool weather is approaching and I don’t want to have to deal with this stuff next spring. I do have some concentrated Roundup. Appreciate it.

$90 at Bomgaars. It’s pricey. Our County Noxious Weed Dept. sells it much cheaper than that when they have it in stock. Something to check out where you are maybe.
