Am I to late?

Land of the Whitetail
I'd like to get some switchgrass screens established along the edge of some timber and the ag field.

The length of where it would be getting planted was cattle pasture a year ago at this time. There is grass growing there. I dont really see hardly any broadleafs.

Todays 5/12. I have done zero prep on this. I did not put down any simazine or pre emergent and have not sprayed at all.

I'd like to think I still have to time to spay some gly & 24d down this week yet or early next week and then do one more spraying right at the end of the month and then drill in the switch maybe like 5/31. My farm tenant has a 15ft drill and is willing to drill down a pass along the edge of the timber/field.

Opinions on if I still have time or would I be wasting my time/money at this point?

Thanks everyone. What a relief. Most videos I have watched have everyone doing spraying etc early spring and planting it mid to late may.

Drill it,spray same day with gly if mostly grass and keep mowed a foot tall if it gets that tall the first year.Nothing wrong with having some weeds as it can get too thick that young game birds can't travel through it.

Is it too late to plant some RC Big Rock switchgrass around August 1 this year? Have a small area where I want to screen off access to a tower blind and just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Nope, I was told around mid August is cutoff. Should get a foot or so of growth yet this year depending on soil quality and moisture
