If you download this it has a 3D option that you can also download which allows you to tilt your aerial map so you can see ridges and valleys.

It's microsofts version of Google earth, with some different options.

Bing is one of my favorite mapping sites especially if you can get a birds eye of your area. I have found that http://mapper.acme.com/ is also very good. It doesn't have as great of aerial photos, but the topo and terrain feature make up for it!!

Birds eye view is great on the Bing maps. If you can only find the places that can use it. They need more coverage there.
