Another scope question

What adjustable power scope would anybody recommend for taking shots from 0 yards to 200 yards max? I’m not looking for brands, I already have that prejudice, rather I’m looking for magnification range on an adjustable power scope. 3X9 6X18 8X24 or some of the newer 2.5X10 etc.

If I “pull the trigger” the scope would be for a .450 Bushmaster.

Thanks.

Personally, at no longer distance than 200 yds I'd go with a straight 6 power. Otherwise a 3x9 should be more than plenty.

Size of your intended target will influence your magnification too...

Whatcha shootin, golf balls or cows?

I would agree with the others unless you’re trying to shoot little bitty groups on paper, a 3x9 or anything in between fixed should work great. Guess the 450 is not widely known as a BR round. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif A fixed 6x may be a little more robust than a variable with that cannon.

Sounds like a fun project!

It all depends on the size of your target........

Even at 100 yards a paper target isn't very big with a 3x9 scope.

But I have used a 3x9 to take down whitetails at over 400 yards.

As long as the lowest power of the scope isn't too much for close shots (50 yards or closer) I prefer to go with the most magnification I can get.

I like the ability to really zoom in on my target. I can judge them a lot better the more I can see them.
