Any waterfowlers here?

I love to get on the river and hunt ducks but 2-3 years ago I started getting into bowhunting. Not knowing how fun it was going to be to sit in a tree during the Fall, I am having a hard time balancing my "blindtime" with my "standtime". Last year I would duck hunt on the windy days and try to get to the deer stand on the calm days. Anybody else split time during the season?

I'm guilty! It is a tough balance. The last 2 years I got lucky and killed my deer early before the push and still got plenty of duck/goose hunting in.

I know there are a few more die hard waterfowlers on here!

Count me in as a combo hunter!! I usually do alot of one or the other just never have enough time to do both the way I want. But I love both, just need more time to hunt, but who doesn't right??

I also like to spend my falls chasing deer and waterfowl. Those Sept waterofwl seaons get things going and from there on out it only gets better. I do a North Dakota duck hunt and bow hunt here as much as possible. Only problem is I work at an elevator and the falls get busy, for some reason the farmers think they need there crops out!!

I would consider myself a duckhunter (hence the name) We do seem to get a few ducks down here in arkansas every year

CLOACA,
Guilty! as a matter of fact that is what started my hunting career. Loved chasing those ducks! I love to call ducks and geese, love the sunrise and putting out decoys. I don't care for all the hunting pressure that accompanies hunting public waterways in Iowa. It wore me out getting the boat launced at midnight to run for a spot and then have some joker set up 100 yards down wind of you. So, I decided to pick up a bow seven years ago when I figured I needed enjoy my hunting experience instead of having it raise my blood pressure... Never looked back. I hunt geese a lot in fields now and love it. Usually take three or four trips for the ducks out of state depending on where they are. So, I still get my fix of the waterfowl but I wouldn't consider myself hardcore anymore. Can still call with the best of em but I like the deer and the turks as well.

Limb, you have brought up a good point. Luckily I haven't had to go in at midnight to save spot. We have a blind that we set in the same area each year on public ground. However, while hunting in my blind I can see 12-16 blinds within eyesight. Lots of competition. Luckily hunters in our area are basically respectful about not setting up too close to established blinds. It seems in our hunting area, each blind tries to respect each
other if a group is working a particular spread. As most of you know, nothing is worse than getting a group of ducks to work your spread only to have the blind next to you blow the ends out of their calls trying to spoil it for you. I guess that is part of public hunting. Haven't seen any teal yet but I'm sure they will be showing up very soon!!
