I got in the stand at about 2 pm yesterday and immediately had two small bucks and three does run in on me.. Shortly after I found out the reason was because a couple people were herding about 50 horses about 100 yards away from me. I thought "Great, this night is going to be a bust"... At about 4 pm.. it was deer after deer.. bucks everywhere and one chased a hot doe right infront of me and grunted about 20 times... I saw that same buck at least 7 or 8 different times.. He would leave one direction and pop out running around on the complete opposite side.. It was insane! By far the most rut action I've seen all year. I saw a total of 9 different bucks, 4 does, and 2 button bucks all while people were coraling those horses on a four wheeler behind me the whole night. Unfortunately, all the bucks were 1.5 yr olds and maybe one 2.5 yr old.. To top it off, I climbed out of the stand and had a button buck follow me about 100 yards along a picked corn field. He stayed about 20-30 yds away the whole time. It was kind of funny.. I may have video of him following me on my trailcam because we walked right in front of it. So far, everyone I've talked to that went out last night experienced the same magic. My brother in-law connected on a big 8 and another friend was bull dozing a fence down and he said about 15 deer came out into the field not too far away from him and were chasing each other around.. These are all spots that we are generally hard pressed to see 1 or 2 deer per sit.. CRAZY is all I could say about it. I wonder what set it off?
