I drove 3 hrs to check my cams today, pulled all cards then drove home. Every cam was full of ants and evidently they have ruined every camera. Pissed is an understatement!!!
 
I have a bushnell that I checked last weekend, same deal. I noticed a hole on the underside of the camera, cant remember what is supposed to be there but i think it was just some sort of rubber plug. Must of gotten in through there. THe camera had been acting up some, I dont think it was ruined though. Back out tomorrow to place some tape or something over the hole to try and seal it off. I also have a friend who is finding ants in his cameras too...
 
I had 2 of these cams under water weeks ago and didn't hurt them but ants have ruined them that is crazy

Had a covert with ants in it this year. stopped working until I took it completely apart and cleaned it out. Seems to work now, haven't put it back out yet. Wonder if high water has made ants move to trees?
 
I had a primos cam full of ants and eggs a couple wks ago.. still had a lot of pics though. I keep forgetting to go back and spray them and sprinkle some of that insect powder in the lid of the camera
 
i had ants in my cameras a few years ago... they were getting in through a small hole in the bottom of the camera case. A small piece of tape over the hole fixed the problem... Find their entrance and block it off. Keep all the ports closed off as well.
 
Had ants in one of mine this year was in the same spot three years and never had a problem until after the floods this year. I threw it in a bag and in the freezer to kill them and it started to work again after a few shakes
 
My OLD Moultrie D-55 had ants in it for the first time this year they nested in it. My other two cams had a few crawling around inside but didn't nest.
 
I spray a little of that bug spray that you use around the perimeter of your house on the cameras and haven't had much of a problem since. Doesn't seem to bother the deer at all either. I wouldn't put it on during hunting season, but for summertime it works good.
 
The best way I have found to get the hundreds of nesting ones out is to remove the batteries and leave it open, with direct sun shineing in it. They will gather up all the eggs and leave on their own, rather than killing them, then try to get all the dead stuff out. The ants can chew thru the housing and seals to get in.
 
Had 2 bushnells full of ants this week. Forgot to put tape over the hole underneath. Lesson learned.

If your camera's do not have a good seal and/or have the that little rubber flap at the bottom of the casing , Make sure you tape that closing off, Coon's love to play havick on that little rubber piece, Another thing I have learned, Never set up your camera on dead elm tree's- they are ant magnets's!!! I personally have never had ants get in the moultries I run, or the Coverts or Stealth cams, The Bushnells are another story tho:mad: But to be honest I have never had a bushnell cam ruined by ant's , Take those 4 screw's out inthe front casing a just clean it out, real good. if the camera becomes infested with ant's,
Just a suggestion buy some camera post , use metal fence post , or see if setting up your camera's on oak tree's make a difference, just seems to work for me
 
I had opened up my covert last week and had them pouring out. I took it apart and cleaned it but haven't put it out again yet, I still need to check if it works.
