anyone ever heard...

muddy

a really long, drawn out buck grunt?? last night i had the fortune of watching a mature buck tend a doe for about 3 hours. while doing so he would tip his head back and let out a 4-6 second drawn out loud grunt. i could hear it at 100 yards when the wind was died down. i thought tending grunts were short and stacatto sounding. either way it was awesome.

Sounds like a 4 wheeler at a distance. I know what you mean muddy and it is interesting. Was there another smaller buck close by? That is when I have heard it............

actually there was. the "smaller" buck was the 125 class 8 pointer and the big 150 class 8 did NOT want him there. it was probably a dominance thing he was doing to both scare the little guy off and impress his new lady friend.

and by the way, it did sound sorta like a 4 wheeler at long distance. weird.

yeah, i have never heard it in my allustrious hunting career. of course from the ages of 9 through 22 i didn't may much attention to anything other than picking my nose. in the past few years the fire has been kindled, stoked, and is now burning bright!! it's amazing what you see and hear when your head isn't up your....

the other day i watched three bucks witha doe out in a bean field. The big 12 wouldnt let the two smaller bucks even get close to the doe with out a fight. so the little buck bedded down right inb the middle of the field?!!?? so i decided to try some grunts to get the little bucks attention so i grunted and by accident blew on my grunt tube to hard ( and you know what that sounds like

) well these twon little bucks stood and came running straight towards me. maybe this is the soundyou are talking about???

i doubt it. the sound i heard was vey obvious. a VERY loud, VERY long grunt that sounded just like how shredder put it...a 4 wheeler off in the distance. it as greats.

I heard a buck do this Friday night. I thought that it was someone in the timber until i seen the buck. My grunt doesn't sound anything like that.

I haven't heard that. But, I did have a little buck do the snort-wheeze Saturday afternoon. He came to the edge of a bedding area where there are a lot of does and gave 4 good blows. I couldn't believe how loud it was! Sure enough, a doe came out of the thick stuff and he chased her towards the sunset.

Well apparently they do the same thing here in Arkansas too! I was hunting an island on the arkansas river last friday when I heard this tremendously loud below. At first I thought it was a heron on the river. Then I heard it again. It was echoing even! Then I thought some dummy needs to read the directions on his grunt call and what are they doing on this island, its private. A few seconds later a doe trotted out of the thicket to my left. A descent 8 was about 10 seconds behind her. He stopped about 40 yards from me. He was only about 120" so I figured its playtime. I turned my bleat can over and he headed straight for me. He stopped directly in front of me, so I put the can behind my back and turned it over again. He was thoroughly perplexed

Then I grunted twice and he got really stiff. He milled around searching in front of me for a few minutes and then trotted off in the direction the doe had gone in. Pretty neat, but that grunt was the loudest most undeerlike grunt I had ever heard. I guess it wasn't too undeerlike since it came from his voicebox

hey muddy. have you heard the tending grunt call on the "Cass Call" electronic game caller. I heard it a couple weeks ago and thought it sounded pretty cool. it's a long drawn out call like you described

sounds like "THE GROWLER" the new buck im hunting, this buck does the most amazing thing ive ever seen or heard, he actually like screams, growls when he is in the area, same buck we were hunting last year late muzzleloader, he is one of the smartest deer ive ever encountered. well sunday i was sitting in the stand, and i hear a real low, gr gr gr gr gr, not a full grunt just like gr gr with each step, then all the sudden the loudest nastiest growl come out of the deer, i mean louder than any grunt call and so long and kind of scary then he would charge a doe or bust up branches and trees, then he would stop and each step, gr gr gr gr, then GROWL. naturally he came behind me and i couldnt get a shot, i dont know how many points, but he is a definite booner!!! last year while hunting him, every night we would see no deer until the growler started hearding them, during the last five minutes you would hear gr gr gr and all the suddent GROWL, about 15 does would bust out of the woods, and then 6 or 7 bucks and he would always be in the middle of the bucks, pushing everything to the middle of the field where they would all stop and eat and where safe. gonna be interesting next week hunting THE GROWLER!!!

I had a mature buck trailing a hot doe one time that started bellowing like a stuck hog when he caught up with her.

I have never heard quite an episode like that since then. But maybe one time a year will get anything excited.
