has anyone in here got a deer this year, if so please post the pics, what u shot it with, how many points, and all that good stuff, just a way to see how big of deer people got this year. THANKS IOWABOWHUNTER
I have been deer hunting for many years now and this summer our hunting group decided to try out muzzleloading. We all went the early muzzleloader season. Anyways, I set up on the edge of corn field with a good trail in front of me. It was about five minutes after shooting hour began and I had been in my stand for about half hour when this buck walked right under my stand. My scope was set on the lowest power and it still was too much. I just aimed where I saw the most brown and BOOM the air filled with smoke. The deer ran up the edge of the corn field about 50 yards and I have never seen a blood trail like it. Then I sat down and tried to collect my self because it happened so fast, the deer was under me before I knew it. I got and put another load in just in case and looked up and there was another deer about the same size coming down the trail. Too bad I didn't have my bow with me! The deer had nine points and weighed 217 lbs field dressed. I shot ti with a Remington 700 ML with Leupold 2-7X33 scope. The only bad thing about it is that my hunt was over so soon!
iowawbowhunter,
It doesn't have any points but i can do the rest of the info. I shot it with a muzzleloader during shotgun season. I was hunting with my grandpa at the time and we were at the same spot where he shot his the day before.Soon a group of does came running down a hill and then started coming up the hill we were on. It was steep enough that we couldn't see them for about 10 minutes.Soon they started poking their heads over the top of the hill.then they started jogging to towards us I picked one out to shoot but it didn't stop so i quickly got another in my scope. I took 1 shot and she didn't go 50 yrds.We estimated it would weigh between 130-140. After it was all over i decided i was going to mount it. I had a guy named rick steere do it. It turned out wonderful. I will see if i can post a picture of it. There is a photo of my deer full body in the first deer topic. I think it is on the second page by now.
I got a fairly good size doe with my bow! It was second to last day of bow season, and she walked 15 yards infront of my tree stand. I hit her right in the lungs. She only ran about 50 yards, and she layed down.
It wasn't nothing to really brag about. She made good jerky and steaks!
I didn't get one in gun season, but I still had a great season!
Can't wait until next year!!!!!
