Anyone try American joint vetch / deer vetch (Aeschynomene) in a food plot?

I'm planning to plant a 1/4 acre food plot in timber and want something that will be eaten/used during the bow season. Thus, I'm not interested in late season forage like turnips (I'll plant some of those elsewhere), but something planted in May or June, etc. This plot would be near a creek, so it's somewhat moist. Sunlight would be moderate with the tree cover.

I was surfing the net and found American joint vetch, or deer vetch. It seems like it will fit the bill. Has anyone tried it or have experience with it? I see crown vetch is considered invasive and not of good value for deer, but I don't think the same is true of deer vetch.
