Asking for your prayers

Two nights ago at 3:19 am my friend Brian Loomis was shot while conducting a traffic stop along I-80 near Walnut, Iowa. He is a Pottawattamie county Deputy Sheriff currently in his second year as a Deputy. I met Brian 4 years ago when he became employed as a Detention Officer at Pott. Co and I trained him. During this time we became good friends and spent a few days pheasant hunting together. Brian is newly married to another of my good friends. She is a also a Detention Supervisor along with me, we have worked together for nearly 6 years. Yesterday was a long day for all of us waiting for the news from surgery. Brian sustained 5 bullet wounds. Two to the right arm and two to the left arm. The left arm was in need of alot of surgery and repair work. The other bullet wound somehow made its way under his bullet proof vest and did some damage to his chest and then made its way up over his shoulder and lodged in his back near his shoulder blade. As of today Brian is still on a ventilator due to a possible bullet taken in the chest area of his vest. It bruised one of his lungs badly. Today while his parents were in the room with him he gave them a thumbs up! He is still in serious condition but he is getting better, so the doctors say anyway. I am just asking each and everyone of you to please say a prayer for him and his family.
God Bless all

I read in the newspaper about Brain this morning. Very unfortunate, I will be thinking of him. I hope that he recovers fully.

That realy puts things in perspective. He and his family will be in my prayers.

Thank god he had a vest on. I don't think we realize what kind of risks police officers take on a daily basis, until you hear a story like this. I'll be thinking of him, I wish him a speedy recovery.

I just heard that Brian was upgraded to fair condition and is going to be moved out of ICU soon. He is now off the ventilator but still has a tube coming out of the hole in his chest. He did talk tonight but is still in alot of pain.
Two of the suspects were caught yesterday in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and they are still looking for possibly 2 more. All I can say is thank God for that bullet proof vest, it is unconfirmed but I was told he took two bullets to the chest that were stopped. Which is pretty incredible considering it was a .357 that he was shot with at near point blank range.
I did have the pleasure of meeting Brians parents yesterday when they arrived in town, very nice caring people. Pottawattamie county is doing their part here by putting them up in a hotel for however long they feel is necessary and offering them an escort for their time here as well. I couldn't be any more proud of the county for their actions in this time of need for the Loomis family.
Waukon, I do know Mike Hoy(digger) very well and worked alongside him for a short time at Pott. County..
I will keep you all updated in the future. But will keep it short next time.
PS, thanks for all your prayers for them!

Prayers for Brian and the family. As a former law enforcement officer, I can sympathize.

Prayers sent for recovery and the family. And thanks to all the police officers out there who put their lives on the line everyday so my family and I can sleep in peace.
