Got out of the service in the mid-80's and bought another GSP and my buddy had a Brit and we would satuday and sunday chasing pheasants and quail. Spent a lot of time in Nanny's neck of the woods shooting many of birds. The best was when the weather would turn cold and the fair weather hunter would stay home and watch football I could pull up to a number of public land with no one in sight and turn loose the dog and shoot my limit. :way:
I had one growing up as a kid. The when she retired my uncle bought another one, this big ole male had one hell of a nose on him. He would go nuts in the back of the Bronco because he would smell the birds outside as we drove slowly down the road. Unfortunately he died after only owning him for 3 weeks. Some type of heart failure I guess..
Then we went to a German Shorthair, Wendy, she was the best working dog I have ever seen. The 3 shorthairs & 1 german wirehair we had after our first one could not compare to her.
Boy those were the good ole days!
