Well i think today was probably the worst day ever! I went out to check my Cuddeback, and i pulled off the cover to find a nest of ants. There had to be 10,000 ants inside of my camera. I pulled it off of the tree and brought it home and the card was full of blank pictures! I think the ants fried my camera, all i was hoping for was to get some pictures of some fawns and now i have no camera. I sprayed some home defense ant killer around the camera while it was on the ground in my drive way, i didn't get any on the camera. All the ants came out and died. So i put the batteries back in and the card and it just takes a picture every minute without even being triped. At this point i think i am up a creek without a paddle cause i cant afford a new cam, and i am not sure what cuddeback is going to say about this, i am calling them tommorrow. These things are supposed to be sealed up so no bugs get in right????

Thats a bummer, sorry to hear about that. Cams should be watertight, which means bugs shouldnt get in either. Cuddeback should take care of you on that one.
Look on the bright side, at least it didnt happen during hunting season.

yeah but i am not going to have the money to buy another one if cuddeback doesn't take care of this! So i am hoping that when i call them today that things go well!

Well, what did cuddeback say? Big answer for me because i am in the market for one soon and if no customer service no buy for me.

I have the same problem with a moultrie of mine. I dont think it is quite as bad as your problem but it definately affected my camera. I had about 80 pictures that where just blank. I dont know if the ants are somehow triggering it or what... I had to file a small groove for my solar panel to hook up so I presume that is how they got in. Anybody have any idea of a repellant for ants that will not affect the deer???

Had the problem but never affected unit operation. Here is one suggestion from Jesse's Hunting and Outdoors "Uninvited Guests - If you discover new tenants in your game camera like ants or mud dobber wasps, you can spray the inside with Permethrin to keep them from ruining your pics. You can get Permethrin at any garden or farm supply store."

I didn't get a chance to call Cuddeback yet but i will on Monday.

I use Ortho Max Defense around the inside and outside of my house. It lasts for several months, so I would think one could spray it on the back of a trail cam. I don't notice an odor but I can't say if it would bother deer or not? It works great on ants!

Did you call yet? I am thinking of buying a nicer one and probably a digital, depending on how this works out for you I might get a Cuddeback.

I called them today, they said to send the cam in, and include $10 so they can ship it back! They are going to fix it and then test it and then send it back.

That is great to hear, we had that same problem once with a Trail Timer PhotoHunter and it was a mess to clean it up but it luckily worked after we were done, then we took camo duct tape and taped up all the edges, just so it didn't happen again.
