Bald eagle's death still being probed
State and federal officials continue to investigate the death of a bald eagle they said was found shot to death in eastern Iowa.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources received a call on Jan. 8 about the eagle found in a field north of Letts, Iowa.
DNR Conservation Officer Tom Campbell said the eagle died from a gunshot wound.
Anyone convicted of killing a bald eagle could face up to one year in prison and a $250,000 fine. Officials from the DNR and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are investigating the incident.
