If you need a place to shoot close to Des Moines, check out Banner. The state did a great job cleaning up and renovating the place. It's fenced in and has hired help to watch over the place when open. It's south of Des Moines on 65/69.

I have not been down there yet, but was part of the project of getting it down there. The IBA worked with the DNR and ArrowSport to start getting these installed around Iowa. Look for Hawkeye Park near IC for the next one!

IAbowhunter 50, From Ankeny, take the new bypass west to the Indianola exit, go south about 5 miles? It's on the left hand side(east)of the road. You can see a parking lot for the lakes-go past that until you get to a T intersection and take a right. Supertec...Thanks for your help with the range, it could just as easily closed.

I'll never call you Superturd again, yeah, and someday monkeys will fly outa you know where. Anyway, if you helped get money for the one just on the north side of the Res, THANKS. Used to be a ditch with everybodies old junk piled in it and full of holes. Now there is a range for hand guns and one for rifles. Both ranges have steel benches and the rifle range has cement pipes to shoot through. I haven't shot there yet, just stopped by once becuse I could see from the air that it was being redone.

Just north of the Iowa River bridge on 965. Follow the road that goes along the north side of the res to the west for about two miles(?) on the right hand side of the road.

Thanks again Superwhatever.
