Barnes spitfire sabots

Hello: I havent really posted much here before but have been a reader for sometime. I have anew accura v2 that I am going to use for the first time this year. I have been sighting it in with 120 grains of blackhorn 209 and barnes spitfire TMZ 250 grain bullets. I am about out of them and going to order more bullets. What would be the advantages or disadvantages of going to the TMZ 290 grain bullets? More or less kick? Bullet drop? any other thoughts?
The only beef I have with the TMZ sabots is that they are hard to push down the barrel. I really like it that the blackhorn 209 is so clean in the barrel.

On a related note my son has a CVA kodiak. He wants to convert to the blackhorn 209 and the same bullets that I will use, the TMZ. Anybody ever used that combo in the kodiak?

While I am at it what is the difference between the TMZ and the TEZ sabots?

I really enjoy reading this forum and have learned a lot here.

Thanks in advance Jared

I shoot the TMZ 250 grain out of my CVA Accura V2. Tack drivers. Been thinking about the 290 grains as according to the ballisics it has a little less drop and more power. I do know everything I have shot with a 250 grain has been great.

The TMZs aren't too hard to push down my barrel.

The TEZs have a slightly less sabot width so they are easier to put down the barrel. I have never shot them yet.

carvingfarmer,

First off, any reason for the switch from 250gr TMZ's to 290's? The only downside I could see to the 290's is a faster drop and positive would be more kinetic energy.

I religiously shoot the 250 gr TEZ with 120gr. by volume of BH209 and could not be happier. I have a "bullet touching" group 3 inches high at 100 yards, "bullet touching" group slightly lower at 150.

I personally have not seen any accuracy difference between TMZ's and TEZ's, but prefer the TEZ's due to being EXTREMELY easy to push down the barrel.

You will love posting on IowaWhitetail....there isn't a better group of guys out there IMO
