Battery length?

Hi guys...I'm new to the site and new to trail cams. I just bought the Stealth WD-2. I should get it in the mail tomorrow!! I did my research on "chasingame.com" and thought this would be a good buy. However, I know it uses "C" batteries, but how long do they last ? And how do you guys check your cameras? Do you have two sets of rechargeables and memory sticks? Or would you recommend just buying some Energizers and see how long they last??

Like I said, I'm new to this trail cam stuff but have been reading your posts and doing lots of research. I shot a 125" 8 point this year but want to monitor the other bucks on the farm. I've seen a couple bigger than that. Any thoughts on late season set up? I know the scrapes are done, but I was thinking food source and funnels of structure? Thanks again...

I cant speak for the exact camera your going to be getting. But I have a Leaf River DC2 that has 4-Ds (flash power) and 3-Cs camera. Batteries last qutie a while the C-s have lasted for 1000pictures and the D-s last for 250 pictures at night.

I'm by no means an expert but that's where I'll be putting mine out.

Still learning on the batteries but one thing I know for sure...cold weather is hard on battery life

DBT, I look at it like hunting, they won't take any pictures sitting in the basement. I have them in several different spots and see what happens. Course you have a lot more deer to photgraph than I have....

This is what I have always done. Welcome to IWT

Thanks for the info guys...very much appreciated. I'm going to go hunting on Thursday so I'll see how long those 'C' batteries last.

What I did was buy a memory stick reader so I can just bring my laptop out to the tree to see instantly what pics show up. I may have to get 2 sets of batteries, but the memory stick reader was a great buy for only 10 bucks.

I'll let you know how the batteries do and if we get any good pics...I put it in a funnel on a trail that was solid mud with deer tracks. About 3 trails came together so I hope they are on the pattern of "bed to feed."

Oh, and "www.chasingame.com" was the reason I bought my camera. They had it listed as the best buy under 200$ and now Dicks Sporting Goods has it on sale for only like 125$ after a 20$ rebate I think.

Thanks again for the advice...I'm very appreciative as a newbie!

If your 'C's don't last long enough look at the mod sections on chasingame and you'll see how you can rig up either a solar panel or external, higher aH battery for longer life. Chances are you'll need it in cold weather. I have a Moultrie rigged up with the solar panel and Bushnell with external 6V, 12aH.
