Well I have had time to analyze the pics and after looking closely at them, it is clear that the bear in the trail camera is not the one I shot. If you look closely a the muzzle, that's the easiest way to tell the difference. The bear I shot is this one:
So the good news is there is one more good bear on that bait that has come in in the daylight, and my 13-year old son has a tag too. One of these nights when he doesn't have soccer practice ofter school we are going to have another try at that bait and see if we can connect again.
311, the bear went about 80 yards down a steep hill to the edge of a beaver pond and piled up within sight. THis bait is on the edge of the foothills state forest west of Pine River. We had a heck of a time getting him to the truck. My wife and two boys came out and we put him on a pole and carried him the 200 yards up the hill to the truck (with frequent rest stops).

Congrats! So, Do you think the other bear is bigger?
Yes I think the other bear is bigger. However, bears are SUPER hard to judge. When I loosed the arrow on this one I thought I was shooting an average sized 150-pound bear. It wasn't until I got it to the locker and it weighed 174 field dressed that I realized it was a pretty good sized bear with a live weight of about 220-230.
Best way to find out if he is bigger is to put him on the ground!
I did some chatting with my mom and she used to know you. Ends up I may actually be your long lost son! Surprise! Hi DAD! Anyway I don't play soccer and happen to love to bow hunt. I don't think my "new" little brother would mind if I sat in on his stand while he's at soccer.
