Bear Pics

For those of you who are interested, once again this year, I'll post a few pics of bears. Here are a few pics from the bear baits the past few days.

Here's a nice bear from late last night.

Here's a prolific sow!

Here's a real pig of a bear, but he is so stealthy that he rarely triggers the camera. It is amazing how they can move the logs and clean out a bait without making enough movment to trigger a pic. I have yet to get a decent pic of his head.

I have been getting quite a few pics of fishers this year.

The ever-present coons are all over the baits this year. Here are seven at one time.

The skull on that 1st bear looks like a booner. It's belly is pretty low to the ground also-gotta be a 300lb er. I would like to see the skull on the last one....

Really good photo's!:way

I think about getting one of those blackie's a lot.

Soon too I think!

Cool. Have they ever ate your camera?

They slobber on it sometimes! It is common for them to bite at it or try to pull it down, but they lose interest in the camera pretty quickly.

Great Pics
I bow hunt bear at Northwoods Bay Resort near Red Lake Ontario. Great hunting experience! Last two years bagged a cinnamon and a 300 lb black.

Thanks for sharing quality photos

Finally moved the camera yesterday and got some good pics of this bear's head. Not quite the melon I was hoping for but defintely a P&Y and a really nice bear. Now if I could just get him in during the daylight.

Here's a medium sized bear in broad daylight. I am having a heck of a time getting the good sized ones to come in during shooting hours this year. Not unusual, but this year seems to be tougher than ever.

How hard is it to get them to come out during shooting hours?

Its the reason that only 1 in 4 harvest a bear. And out of the people that have sucessfully taken a bear probably 75% of the successful people have harvested them before. I bet 85% of people that put out baits have them hit by bear, most have them hit repeatedly. Its by no way easy in just going out dump some goodies on the ground and wait for the bear to come walking in.

Bear are a lot like a big buck, as far as time of day movements. And there is not rut

I used this analogy to my son the other day. Deer hunting is like bluegill fishing, bear hunting is like muskie fishing.

It's a lot of work and putting in a lot of time for a pretty low percentage of an opportunity to shoot one.

But when it all comes together, it makes it all the sweeter.
