I have a question of ethics and really not even sure if i should be asking it.
I have a couple private farms i hunt but none of them produce constantly. I did have a stand on some public land nearby here that was always fun to hunt even though you had to walk a mile back. It was easy to find your way back, just follow the fence. I really have been wanting to get back there again for the last couple years. It would be nice to have a backup place to hunt. Seen some real nice deer back there over the years.
Problem is that it is Cedar River bottom land and a beaver dam has the slough backed up making it impossible to cross the creek that i used to, and reach this honeyhole. This land never gets hunted very much until the rut. Even then i was so far back i very seldom ever saw anyone. But this damn beaver dam is keeping me out. The only way to walk around it would put you WAY out of the way, disturbing deer and making it next to impossible to find your way back to the parking lot in the dark.
I don't know if i should just give up on the idea or what. It has been there for the last 2 years. About 20 yards long and 2/3 of it mud by now. 3 or 4 feet tall. I have had the urge to break it open, but probably better not. More wildlife use that water than me. I wouldn't feel good about myself doing it anyway.
What would you do?
