Been a lot MIA on here the past couple months, apologizes. It's been a great finale to 2 years of preparing for a couple bucket list items.
Last month I competed in a full Ironman triathlon up in Madison. 14 hours and 48 minutes later I walked that red carpet. The swim was insane, like nothing I've ever done. Lake Monona was choppy and scary, then add 2500 people for the full and 2500 people 90 minutes later for the half IM. It was like swimming 2.4 mile in a washing machine with 5000 people. The 112 mi bike was hilly and challenging and finishing all that with a marathon almost sapped me.
Last week I competed in my 1st trail race, the Mines of Spain (Dubuque) river bluff 100K and 100 mile run. I opted to do the 100K simply because my previous longest race was 30 miles. Long story shot I finished, but I'll me losing 3 toe nails (who needs em?) and my legs are just friggin fried. It took me 17 hours and 20 min or so to complete it.
Lotta time spent in the outdoors the past 6 months, time to climb a tree and rest up a bit.
