Best calls for purrs?

I'm just curious what everyone thinks is the best call and/or striker combination for making purrs and fighting purrs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

slate and a "white" wood striker, generally speaking a "white" wood like pine, aspen, or even cedar is softer than darker wood.

but, i think slate is the best purring option!

I get the best sound with a wood striker. The most important part to making a good purr is to have the slate roughed up and gripping your striker about an inch further up. That will allow a little more "bounce" at the tip as you drag it over the slate. I usually will rough the striker tip too.

Slate and any wood, I like purple heart as it is good for purrs and really cranking out yelps, but any wood srtiker will do.
