So what is the best extendable trimming saw? Ran into a tree this weekend that I needed about another 4 ft to reach the only branch that blocked my shot :thrwrck: so, I am wanting to know what is the best out there...I have several hand saws and trying to find just a handle, but that hasnt worked out well for me either...
No offense guys, personal preference I do NOT wanted a Wicked saw either...

If we're talking the full-size trimmers - the Corona is going to be the best, IMO for the 75-100 price range. (**haven't tried some other brands, like Wicked or some others?) It's the one with the chain up top and is red. I've had or have about 5 of them and they literally last 10 times as long as the Fiskers (which is absolute junk IMO) that cost the same. And dead serious, 10 times+ longer. If you're still talking heavy-duty full size and can handle the cost- match up the commercial head that Corona makes with a top notch pole of your choosing. My commercial trimmer can cut like 2.5" and the extended saw goes like 20 or 24' or something like that. I have about $300-350 or so into that one. If you need specifics on any, lemme know

The only issues i have had with the fiskars pole saw is the pruner not opening back up due to the strap pinching at the extension point. Otherwise we have been pleased. Used them for 6 years or so.

Silky makes a great saw but your gonna need to get your wallet out....sure made trimming lanes a lot more enjoyable for me though

Wicked pole saw! Enough said, not another saw out there on the market that even comes close to comparing IMO. Even the Stihl saw doesn't compare, the Stihl blade is flimsy and your just paying for the name! Todd has outdone himself with the wicked gear. His small trimming saw is a must as well. I've beat the Pi** out of mine and she still cuts like butter!

Obviously this is your choice, but may I ask why? I just recently bought a wicked hand saw and would love to upgrade to one of the pole saws but am curious why someone would NOT, with capitol letters, want one? Not trying to start a fight or anything, just interested in reasons, good or bad.

Quite honestly, and I wont be blunt about it.. I am not a fan of Todd... might be a petty reason, but I do have my reasons... thats all

The wicked pole saw doesn't even have a pruner, that's how I cut most small branches. Todd has outdone himself for sure, just not sure if it was with the saw:rolleyes:

I like hooyman pretty well. It works great, it is a little flimsy, but if you do not abuse it, it does cut good. Just cut on the pull stroke like it is designed and no problems.

A pruner? You can't possibly be serious?!? Obviously Todd has upset some guys and does thing people don't agree with but those of us that have used his products know they are for real. I have seriously used mine for making mock scrapes, hackin saplings, trimming, trimming taller grass. It's gone through the ringer and has yet to show me a flaw.

I would go with the Stihl or silky. Have a wicked hand saw and I have to admit it is durable but takes me twice as long to cut most limbs then some of my other hand saws. No doubt it will last as it is built well but if the pole saw is like the hand saw you are gonna be wore out cutting a decent size limb.

Silky is the best pole saw out there hands down! It can extend the highest and is
really sturdy when extended way out. You can reach branches 20' from ground level.
Def get your wallet out tho!!

I have both the wicked hand saw and the pole saw. Both great products. I will admit the wicked hand saw takes longer than other hand saws and the wicked pole saw when cutting things. The pole saw is much easier to cut with for some reason. It does have a longer blade than the hand saw. That pole saw is the best one I've ever had and probably the best purchase I made this year for outdoor equipment.

A bit heavy for those pack in and hunt days........

I have the wicked hand saw. Nice saw, built well. The blade doesn't seem all that great but not bad. The pole saw looks nice, wish it had a pruner though. It seems I use those more than a actual saw where I hunt. The silky and stihls are great.

I am a little leery of pole saws now though since I about killed myself with one 3 years ago hunting.

I use a pruner for most of the stuff I cut as well. I just have an el cheapo pole saw/pruner combo (budget reasons), which irritates me each time I try to use the saw blade since it gets stuck most of the time (again, el cheapo and flimsy). I had a lot of larger branches to cut this year tho, so I rented a stihl gas powered pole saw and was in heaven. Obviously not something you would want to take in for a hang & hunt tho.
