best hang on stand?

thanks for the help. Looks like i will get the LW alpha or assualt. By the way, what is smallest diameter tree I can hang one of these on? The only tree available at my first spot is no more than 5 inches.

Limb, when i looked at the two before i bought the wedge lock i was leaning to the Lone Wolf because of price. Both stands had great quality. The reason i ended up buying the wedge lock was because i was hunting a lot of public land and i was going to be taking my stand with me everytime. With the wedge lock i could put multiple brackets up, and hunt multiple areas. I just thought that the wedge lock system was much easier and faster to use then the Lone Wolf. I am still thinking of getting a Lone Wolf also, but have not found the right deal yet! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

10-4, is the bracket system better than buying 4 or 5 different hooks and straps and leaving them like you would the bracket. Are the brackets cheaper than the hook and strap?

I am not trying to be difficult here I am just trying to understand, which my wife would tell you I don't do very well... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

gotcha,
The lone wolf will go up in a tree that is 9 to 22 inches I believe, anything over that there are extention straps you can buy.

I don't know about you guys, but it takes me about 30 seconds to attach a strap with the hook for a lonewolf on any tree. I don't know why anyone would ever need more than one strap to tell yah the truth. So if that is what you are worried about, you don't need extras. I hunt a different tree every day and if the hook was already there it might take me a half minute longer than if the hook wasn't there.

Up until this weekend, I knew nothing about Lone Wolf stands, and thought I would never pay that much money for a lock on. After watching one set up this weekend, and how freakin light those things are, I will be investing in one very soon. Can put that thing up in about 3 minutes, sticks and stand. Looked very stable also. I didn't get in it due to a bad knee, couldn't climb the sticks.

When will Lonewolf make their seat a little more comfy? This is about the only thing holding me back from trying a new one out. The old seats were horrendous and though the new seats are better, they are still just OK IMO.

I am going to town tonight after work to buy all my last minute supplies for my vacation and may just drop some cash on a new stand.

Tree STAND... Come on DOR you sit on your ___ all day. It's like a mailman taking a walk on his day off. Come on man, man up... :evil grin guy shaking head

I have used both, and own a Wedge-loc, do not own a Lone Wolf, but have had experience setting up, hunting in and videotaping from both. both work very nicely and id own a pile of each if i could

here are the pros and cons to both,
this is my opinion!!!!! dont jump all over me, or ill find your house and poop on your door step........(Sinister Laughing)

Both are extremely light, my WL Ghost weighs 8-lbs, the assult weighs the same....i believe
Both are extremely quiet
both are extremely stable, but the LW will move some if you try to make it move. i know you dont try to do that while hunting, but for the sake of the discussion, the WL is more sturdy and doesnt budge AT ALL!!! even with my fat --- on it!!!
both are very fast set ups, however the WL goes up in half the time! i can put the chain on, then the stand and be in my stand iin about 15 seconds.......there are people that have seen me do it and can verify that.....no bragging, just the truth. i can have a LW on in at least 30 seconds......not that there is a huge difference in time here, both are less than a minute and silent, but thats the difference.

you can re-seat the LW without getting off the stand, but you have to get off the WL stand and move it by hand to re-seat it to the tree. that is a down fall in my opinion, but if id do it right the first time, there wouldnt be any issues..... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I Like the cast aluminum platform of a LW vs. the welds on a WL, the welds are of the highest quality and i have not had any problems, but Welds will break before cast aluminum will

The Wedge loc stands are WAY OVER PRICED in my opinion. there is less than $50 bucks of material there (i know that for sure) and they start out at 210 bones for the smallest stand and go up from there.......way to high. but i own one and if i had the money id buy another one, or two or three....

and, getting a hold of the WL is a task in itself. no stores that i know of carry them, so you have to order them, pay shipping, wait for them etc.....

the stand i use is the Ghost, it has a 14" X 18" platform and may be small for lots of guys, but there are many other options that suit all desires. they dont just make one size, tons of options. from the size of the ghost all the way up to a 36" X 36" hexagon....(that thing is friggen huge)

so the Lone Wolf is more economical and is a stand i would own one if money was no object

both stands are very nice, and the top of the line in my opinion.

but i own a Wedge loc and dont regret spending the money at all!!
i think owning either would be worth every scent and you wont be disappointed.

so i think it is a toss up....
if you have the money, go with the wedge loc, but i can assure you, you wont be disappointed in the LW......and the LW sticks are the cats meow too!!
