did anyone see that HUGE bear in the newspaper? i think it was like a world record, the thing was MONSTRUS! someone told me that if it stood on its hind legs it could reach a roof or something like that

Without seeing the photo, I'm going to make a guess that I've seen this photo many, many times in the last few years. Sounds like a very well-known internet rumor bear. If it's not, bring on the details.

This thing just keeps growing and growing. I had an email about a month ago about it. Then it was 18 feet tall and weighed over 2800 lbs. Didn't mention how many people it had eaten, but I'm sure its now close to half the population of Alaska!

Time to put this one to rest for good.

[/ QUOTE ] LOL. Yep. Been floating around the web for at least 9 months.

It has actually been around for several years. The actual hunt occurred in 2001. I've seen the 'real story' in various forms every year since. I didn't always use to be so guarded, but after getting tricked into believing a thing or two online, I put up my guard. I check out new rumors on Snopes.com, and they usually clear up the story. My motto - be interested, but skeptical.

The second picture is another thing all together. Look closely and you can see Palmetto plants, sorry, but thats not Alaska. The photo is real but it was taken in Florida. It has nothing to do with this, or any other bear story. Just shows and proves how these things "grow".
