BIG NW Iowa deer

The Heritage Center east of Sutherland, IA has started a Big Bucks Expo the last couple of years. I grew up hunting the area and so it was fun to stop in and see some of the bigger deer taken in the surrounding areas. Most of the deer came from the surrounding counties which are NOT necessarily the most popular big buck counties in the state. Thought I would share a few of the pics I took. Wide buck scored just shy of 180. The taller buck scored 193 gross with basically zero inches for brow tines. Very impressive.

Don't think the pics of this buck really shows how much mass this buck had but wow it was impressive in person. Not sure what the H1's would have been but I'm guessing they were pushing 8

This set of sheds were found mid Feb in Sioux County. Not too many tipical 14's running around. Not much for deductions either. Never got a real clear cut answer of what they scored. Guy who found them said he hasn't scored them.

And then lastly is a buck that was taken illegally in O'brien county with a high power. For every normal point on the beam, it seemed like there was an inside point to match. Mass was also incredible. I'm sure he was easily over 40 inches of mass.

That narrow one with the mass looks really familiar. If I remember right, there is a H.S. kid on here that got it during bow season this year. I can't remember the thread or his name, but I'm sure that's the one. His pictures did show a LOT of mass.

Wow! Imagine that tall buck with some ten inch brows! Some real slobs hitting the dirt up there! :way:
