I shot my second bird of the season this morning. I roosted him last night. Snuck early this morning and setup north of where I thought he was roosted. Ended up that I was probably inside of 50 yards from him. First bird of the morning sounded of to the east at about 5:40. This guy started shortly after, I was worried that he either heard me or saw me setup and figured he would fly down the opposite direction. A little after 6:00 I heard him fly down. He was silent for a while but finally gobbled right behind the blind on the other side of the fence. Then he went silent. I yelped a little bit and moved my king strut decoy(with a jake fan) back and forth next I hear a bird fly over the fence. I got my bow in hand and I see him come into view from the right side of my blind marching straight for the decoy. I shot him at 6:14 at 5 yards. It was a great way to end my season. Now I just have to get my fiance on a bird fourth season. This guys stats are 25lbs 12oz 12.25" (beard one strand is this long most of the beard is 11) spurs are 1 1/16" long. By far the best two birds I've killed in a single year. I should have been using my bow years ago.
