My buddy and had our annual Halloween hunt lined up plus several other days. My plan was to pull the SD cards before I went to his place. As luck would have it I got off work at 10:00 AM so a bonus hunt would be in order. I had everything ready and quickly loaded up the truck and headed out.
The area was littered with fresh sign and as I got close to were I was going to hunt to hang the LWCG I found a super fresh scrape. Luckily a perfect tree was 15 yards away and in my favor.
I normally don’t hunt scrapes but it was on a faint trail so I did. At 5:12 I looked over my shoulder and seen antlers.... dink.... few more steps WOW super tall so now it’s kill mode. I never knew he was so narrow but it wouldn’t have mattered due to his height.
I drew and he kept angling closer so when he was by the scrape I shot him slightly angling towards my position. I touched the release and it was true.
He was doing the floundering thing as he ran and I seen him fall 50 yards away!
I waited a few minutes called my buddy and told him that I wouldn’t be at his place till Saturday as plans have changed.
I went back and got the cart and once I had him loaded I went and pulled the TC cards. I had a tons of pics of him on all three cameras.
I have never seen him person but have pics the previous two years of him. Three hours carting him out was tough but I finally made it. The self photo shoot is always a hassle but after a half hours doing it it would have to do.
