I'm about ready to move back to tropical Iowa. Brrrrr.

that's awesome.

i love it when it's so cold that your nostrils freeze shut simply from breathing.

Your not going to get any relief here. It is the same temperature. -40 C is -8 F and our high today is suppose to be -6F or -38C. Better move a little further south... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

That's -40F Limb Chicken. Not Celcius.

Most of the lakes have 25-30 inches of ice right now. It would be more but there is a lot of snow insulating them.

Al Gore may not have invented the internet but I'm pretty sure he invented global warming. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Just think.. another 10 degree drop and your spit will freeze before it hits the ground!
I grew up just outside Walker, I feel your pain.
You ever make it to the Eelpout Festival? It was the best part of winter when I was there.

25-30... that would give my auger a work out.. were running about 9 inches here.. lots ppl here use the hand crank augers... i cant imagine doing that on 25-30 WOW

The Eekpout thing is mostly a drunk fest, and I pretty much stay away. My wife worked at Reeds and it was usally a nightmare that weekend with everyone coming into the store falling down drunk and messing up the restrooms, etc. To each his own but that's not my idea of fun.

I lived there the first 4 years that they had the Festival. We had our share of beer but it was not just a drunk fest then. It was a time when EVERYONE came out of their homes and got together as a community and reconnected.
To bad it's gone the way it has.

All the way to work this morning thats all the damn thing read. I had to go to our main office 1:15 drive cross country. I met 3 vehicals in the first 60min. I was really thinking what the hell would happen if I was to break down or put my work truck off into the rhubarb. Pic was taken with my cell phone camera.

Not wanting to get too technical, but -40C is equal to -40F, not -8F.

Sorry, but that is the nerd coming out it me! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
Just better to stay on the couch either way!

Technical is fine. When your right your right... Thanks for the correction. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I would have kept on driving south and wouldn't have stopped for several states if I was you.

Tc = (5/9)x(Tf-32)
= (5/9)x (-40-32)= -40.00000C

Yup.

or the other way.

Tf = [(9/5)xTc]+32
= [(9/5)x-40]+32 = -40.00000F

Yup.
