yeah i think i will try the combo this year take the bow out a few times to see waht happends and if i cant come up with one i guess i can always fall back on the ol shotgun thanks for the suggestions

BOW!!!!!!!!!!! I will never shotgun hunt again. Then i my never shoot a Turkey again too.HE HE.

it is hard to not take the gun on the run and gun is just to much fun specially for a boy who tends to have a patients problem

Hey MQ32,

How long havve you been living in Northwest Iowa?? Have you shot many birds around there?

One thing about bowhunting, having birds in gun range, but not coming those extra few yards into bow range on multiple hunts can get a bit frustrating. That seems the norm for me.
I also tire of lugging around and sitting inside a blind for long periods.

There's something to be said for plopping down next to a good tree and pulling the facemask up.

That aside, if I had to pick one over the other I'd still take the bow. You just can't beat walking up to a bow killed bird, a great feeling of accomplishment.

I was very happy to see the new regs. It will be nice to mix it up. Gun hunting one season will make it easier to hunt with my brother who doesn't bowhunt and getting in a few good hunts with my brother trumps all.

I've only been turky hunting for about 4 years or so...used gun all the time but this year I'm going to try the bow.

I really don't care if I get one or not, just like to get away for a few days and unwind...no phones, no TV's, just turkeys and mushrooms

HAHA, sorry guys, but I think me and taylor should have our own forum, so we can talk to ourselves.

The rigid northeast huh? I was just wondering because you "thing" says northwest. Yes you have shot some nice birds, but how long since the last one. And must we bring up a strut or possibly a certain breeding bird? Well get em this year though. they just might have to come from fareway.

BOW DEFINITELY!! I have shotgun hunted for the last 10 yrs and killed a bird or two every year. Last year was my first bow season and man WHAT A RUSH! I have a heck of a time finding them after the shot, but that's a whole other set of issues!lol
