Bowhunter/Hunter Pride!!

Hardcorehunter

UL Shelter/Stove Geek
Bowhunters/Hunters, be proud of who you are. We provide a much needed service in the form of keeping animal #'s in check and disease free. We keep vehicle insurance rates lower and we bring a lot of financial revenue that helps provide biologists and public lands where wildlife can be enjoyed by hunters and non hunters alike. Let friends that aren't hunters know of these services. Don't rub your hunting in non hunters' noses such as strapping a bloody deer to the hood of your truck. Conduct yourself professionally as a person and people will respect you. In the same note, don't be ashamed of who or what you do by worrying about the peta propaganda. They are really overrated. I hunt because I enjoy the kill and killing. If I didn't, I would shoot the deer with a dart from my bow and take a pic of my sleeper. I love to see my arrow drive through a deer and to hear that great "whack" noise from the impact of the arrow. It is extremely cool to me when I see the deer or animal swagger and then drop within sight of my stand. Love it!! I succeeded!! I love the way all of this gets my heart pumping and how the adrenaline causes an un controllable reaction through my body. It makes me feel alive!!! Blood gets on a deer or your game, I like clean pics too, but don't be ashamed of your kill because there is blood on it. It is hunting, death is the ultimate outcome and with death comes blood. Enjoy your hunting.

Re: Bowhunter Pride!!

The only thing I would change would be replace bowhunter with hunter. I like to watch a bird fold out of the air with a well placed shot as well as a well placed arrow. Lets not create lines that may be perceived in a negative fashion.

I think I understand what you are trying to say but I truly respectfully disagree with how you are saying it. For some reason you seem to have a real burr under your saddle about PETA and showing them that you don't care what they think. You will never get any where with any kind of confrontational or in your face approach with PETA and only hurt your cause with the rest of the nonhunting public. I sence that you are very upset about PETA but please consider what you say and write. I know that we are generally amoung friends on here but there are also some unfriendlies as well. I really don't mean to always come across as some moralist but look at what you said. I only enjoy the kill and the killing, hearing the arrow whack home and watching the victim stagger away and fall really gets my blood pumping. Now I know that isn't what you meant to say that hunting means to you, but virtually all nonhunters would not know and take those statements quite literally. Also I again know that you didn't mean it this way but these are almost exactly the kind of statements made by many serial killers when they talk about the thrill of the kill and their excitment of watching a victim as it dies.
Please please don't misconstrue what I am saying. I don't for a minute believe that you harbor any serial killer tendincies or that you are a bad person. All I am saying is that we need to be able to see things from outside of our own narrow justified viewpoint and consider what others might think and how they might react. This sport that we love is totally predicated arround killing animals and we all accept that, but as so many have so often said it is about SO much more than killing. It is about watching 2 bucks fight in a hay field, a bird dog locked on point, ducks dropping in to decoys from a sleet filled sky, begal music over the snow, or being so tired at the end of the day you don't know how you will drive home. Not just killing and blood letting.

I never said this. I enjoy all aspects of the hunt as you mentioned. No burr under my butt about peta. In fact, they are of no concern to me. I have never seen, in my 30 years of hunting in IA, that they have any impact in my life. Fears that are planted in our hunters' heads from magazines, speakers at hunting events, and propaganda. One hunter says,"Beware, peta is going to get us. It is a chain reaction of fear. They have no clout with the lawmakers as they have nothing financially or beneficial to contribute to the economy. Pork consumption has not gone down due to a pie in a pork queens face or films showing pigs killed at a slaughter house. As stated by the DNR on their website, "Hunting is the only viable way to keep animal populations in check."
Feel free to have your opinion though. It is a free country afterall, and good hunting to you.

Starting hunting at 16, and now 54, I have seen alot of hunters. Especially coming from MI. The title,"HUNTER"< includes many different types. I have seen the ones that have a blood lust. Just like to take out thier agression on animals with weapons. One time I recall was during rifle season up in MI. I'd heard shotgun shots from a thick strip near my house all morn. Thought someone was Pat hunting. Finally three red coated guys came up my drive. Asked if they could go down in a swale at my property edge. Said they'd been shootin at a doe all morn and she went down in there. At least they asked so I said OK. I watched as they surrounded the swale and blasted over and over at this poor shot-up little doe, trying to escape. All the while laughing at her struggle. I was sick to my stomach. As I say, there are all kinds of "HUNTERS". I for one do not like to see a creature hurt, bleeding or suffering. I still feel the drive to gather food, by planting, and hunting. Probably a drive put in us by our Creator. I get satifaction out of "HARVESTING". But I will never enjoy the death and suffering. The skill and work it takes to harvest cleanly and quickly also brings satisfaction. Heaven knows there has been enough suffering on this old planet, both human and animal.
