I'm sure this has been covered before, but how many of you wear glasses to shoot your bow? My "40 something" eyes aren't what they used to be, and reading glasses are the norm for close up viewing. Just recently I started wearing them while shooting my bow, and seeing the sight has become much easier, but I'm wondering what problems this could create in an actual hunting situation. I know contacts would probably be a better option, but not sure I'm ready for that step. Thanks.

I wear glasses and have been told that contacts are not a good option for me. The only things I really find annoying sometimes are the lenses fogging up slightly at times and also the sight being in the extreme corner of my lenses. I have what I would classify as mid-sized lenses in my frames but anything smaller would make the frames get in the way of my line of sight while shooting. Hope this makes some sense and gives you some things to consider.
 
I think you'd be much happier with contacts. Years ago I wore glasses regularly, but switched to contacts because I was in your situation. It was one of the best things I've done, not just for shooting either.:way:
 
I've shot my whole life with glasses. Only things that irritate me are fogged/dirty/rain splotched lenses. The fogged lenses only last for a little while so no big deal. I carry binocular lense wipes with me for cleaning purposes and if it's raining I wear a floppy brim hat to keep the rain splotches to a minimum. One thing I recommend is getting a set of nerd straps to keep your glasses on your face. A few years ago I had just got my climber situated and as I put my hunting coat on 25 feet up I knocked my glasses off... I had to climb down and blindly pat the leaves to find them. Fortunately I did and I salvaged the morning.

I tried contacts but with my astigmatism I can't wear them comfortably. I also didn't like the fact that things were blurry every time I blinked as the contact moved on my eye. To each their own when it comes to the contact vs glasses vs lasic surgery options.
 
Yeah, they have to fit right.....

I forget mine are even in, have to remind myself to take them out every few days.
 
That would be nice. I tried a dozen or more pairs of contacts a few years ago and they always felt like they were dried out and tightly stuck onto my eyeballs, it was horrible even with disposables.
 
I have extreme astigmatism, and it took close to 15 different contacts before I found some that didn't affect me the same way muddy mentioned. Once I had those found, I will never wear glasses again (except at night to read, I take mine out every night.)
 
I used to wear contacts all the time and loved them at first, but the more I wore them the more I hated them. For some reason I had a heck of a time seeing in low light conditions. It got to the point where I couldn't even tell what I was looking at a 100 yards in the field at low light. I switched back to glasses and haven't had a problem. You do get the muddy / fogged/ rainy lenses though.

I just picked up a new pair of contacts that are supposed to be better for me, so I will give them a try.

The only other thing I can think of is if I am sitting 25foot up a tree and take my glasses off I feel like I am 50ft up a tree. It's nuts!!!

What he said. Disposable ones are awesome...and you don't know they are there
