Does anyone have any plans, designs or pictures of homemade plywood box blinds they could post? Preferably two person designs that are gun and bow friendly.

Here is a link to some replys I got on the same question over at Kisky.com. We've been watching the new Drury DVDs, Dream Season, Whitetail Maddess, and 100% Fair Chase/Spot On and they hunt out of box blinds all the time. The show a ton of video of their blinds and I think we're going to use their plan, its easy enough to double after watching it on DVD.

I built this one...the plans are in my head.

I put it on treated skids so you can just hook on with a wheeler and put it where you want.

Paint the inside all black and wear your Double Bull ninja gear. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Seats 3 people and is perfect for the kid's youth season.

My Dad built one this year. My son (Cyclone Hunter)designed it. The one additional suggestion that worked out for him is that he spaced the skids so the could slide a rear mounted bale mover under it and move it that way. He's enjoyed hunting in heated comfort this year. At 75, he deserves it

Start off by thinking how high you are going to sit and then base everything off of that level. Make sure you give yourself plenty of room to get your gun/bow into position and then give yourself an extra 3-4 inches. I have made one deer blind and a few duck blinds by just winging it on a sketchpad. It is nice to see some pictures to get helpful ideas from and incorporate the ones you like into your own design. Make sure when the project is complete there are follow up photos to show what you ended up with!

Ya, I was thinking about 6X8' maybe 6'high in front and 5'6" in the back and tall narrow shooting windows. Ive pretty much got an idea of what im wanting to build just trying to figure out the most efficient way to build one with 4X8 sheets with the least amount of waste and any other different little ideas to throw into the mix. Probably going to put it on skids and elevate it somewhere between 4' and 8' just to get a beter line of sight above the underbrush

You might have a better field of vision with shooting windows that are longer than tall. I made my large front shooting window 3 ft. long and 10 inches high. I have two smaller window on the left and right side of the blind that are the same heighth but about half the length. We used cheap plexiglass to enclose it but we really wanted to get the tinted glass. Not sure the overall width of the blind but it has one chair and one salvaged bus seat, with a little room to spare.

Joe, I have been studying them hard lately to come up with as close to perfect design as possible for my needs. These will be built to last so I want to get them close on the first run. If anyone has any input on design feel free to lend an idea.
1. Primarily they will need to be air tight.
2. Kid friendly for observation and youth season.
3. Bow friendly as well as gun.
4. Easy to get gear in and out.
5. Insect and vermin proof is a must. The plywood designs I see get hammered by the squirrels. Plastic store bought are expensive and don't have the features I would like. If anyone has any ideas on this I would love to hear them. We used black jack to coat one once (Sorry Vman) It was a mess and the property was sold with the blind so I have no idea how it held up. Old Buck is building some using Hardi Plank siding this would be a great deterrent to the critters, and weather I believe. Any other ideas?
6. Windows are up in the air. Sliders, hinged, shoot through (utilizing plastic) are options. Whatever option is picked they have to be quiet and air tight

Any input is appreciated keep the ideas coming.

I have built a couple specificly designed for late muzzy hunting, air tight but not bow friendly.I built one with cheap sliding windows from Menards. The bottom channel of the windows hold water. The windows work well until they get iced up and wont open.I also made the mistake in my 1st one of having to small of windows. The windows were not large enough to see everything from 1 spot and I would spend the entire hunt bouncing around the blind like a pinball to check out the windows. If I build another I will be looking for yet another window option, any suggestions would be apreciated.

Not a box blind, but here is another blind idea. Don't laugh... it was a porta-potty. An older guy made it for muzzleloader season. Not a lot of room but served the purpose well. About three years after he made it Realtree had a commercial made with a porta potty out in the timber decked out in Realtree camo.

Needless to say they would be light and easy to move.

Took some pics today.

We backed into a large rose bush to break up the background.

The door is on the left side of the box.
