Brassica Fertilizer

“BOB” ….. agree….. for small plots- it’s convenient! Cost a little more- big deal. Heres the catch…. Many of them put crap mixes together. Factually incorrect & often use cheap seed as #1 & then charge a premium. MOST do this. Some do not. Frigid forage for example does not use cheap junk or make mixes that don’t make any sense. Are they more? Yep. But they are quality.
I could call out a bunch of companies that sell crap mixes for big $!!! Cheap seed or improper blends. I won’t name em but it’s very common.
Yes - welters is great. Or buying single specifies & mixing. Another example is: Millborn seed. I buy for cover crops. Buy a pallet of each type of seed. Cheap, bulk pricing & great seed. Much like welter. But as a food plotter- I doubt guys need to be buying pallets. ;).
Bottom line: plant the correct mix with right ratios planted at right time. Whether u mix yourself & save $ or find one of the rare “proper quality mix BOB” seed - both are fine & only difference is $ at that point.

How it’s looking so far, I put triple 19 down before a rain also. For a first try at food plots, I’m pretty happy with them.

I think they look pretty good. I would put down some straight urea before the next rain event. Its getting late in the game to get ample growth, as the weather cools and the days are shorter they just dont grow as fast. Give them the help they need now and reap the benefits later!
Overall good job on your first plot!

I don’t have a dog in this fight but I will say that just because there’s a BOB seed mix on the store shelf doesn’t mean it hasn’t been there for a year, two or maybe longer...I used to work for one of the largest hunting accessory companies and we routinely had to get updated seed labels sent out to retailers to put the updated germ rates on their existing inventory. Again, I’ve done plots using all the different options mentioned here...so, to each their own and good luck to everyone this fall!
