Mine isn't anchored down..........it has seen high water and lived to tell the tale, but as you say "water can be an amazing force" and for that reason I would suggest anchoring it on both ends. I'm not sure the water itself would get high enough in my area to float it away, but if some deadfalls ended up building up in front of it the surface area would double or triple and probably end up pushing the bridge off the banks..........that would be a bad deal!! I'm one of those guys who likes to push the envelope though.:way:

How big is your bridge? If you could post pix I would appreciate it.

Im gonna anchor mine I not such a rebel :)

Would it be better to hook one end so it could swing clear so brush didn't pile up during high water> Better to salvage it than have all that work destroyed ?

Kinda the idea of tying it off to nearby trees so it could float and brush could flow under it.

I think you would be better off digging down the banks and the creek and line it with some big flat slabs of limestone or chunks of concrete so you can just drive across it. If high water and debris is an issue, eventually any bridge will fail.

Just going by the pics you posted and what I have seen elsewhere, I would agree with Scott. Unless you go all out reinforcing a bridge OR place it high enough that it will not get "sideswiped" by high water, I think you will be dragging it back into place once or twice a year, nearly every year.

I don't think so. What caused this ditch is the 08 flood of the Cedar. I guess we will see.

The water is usaully much higher......no rain. So not really an option.

No but that one is kinda a D-bag.

I did the chest waders last year. Wasnt gonna hunt in them so it was a pain taking them on and off in the dark all the time.
