Broadheads

Land of the Whitetail
Hey guys, this year I want to try a different brand of broadhead. The past three seasons all I have used were Montec 100 grain fixed broadheads. They work pretty good, every deer I've shoot with them has gone down within 50 yards. However, they dont' seem to group that well when I shoot them, especailly at 25+ yards. I've been looking at some the Muzzy's and I don't care or trust mechanical, but the Rage's always seem to get great reviews. What are some brands that you guys really trust and you maintain field point accuracy with?

Grim Reapers have always flown like field points for me. They work great great on deer and turkeys.

I really like InnerLoc broad heads. I have used their Carbon Tuner 3 blade (tough as nails) and the 3 blade expandables...again super tough.
The fixed blade heads have something they call B.A.T the ferrule of the head can be turned to tune the heads to your arrow verses turning your insert. Definitely a neat feature

Try the G5 Strikers. They're some of the sharpest heads I've ever felt and they fly right with my field points. I'm not a mechanical guy and if you're going to shoot a fixed head I'd suggest giving these a try.

Grim Reaper here. The damage is amazing. I was given a promotional video by a proshop here in town and after watching the comparision versus other, I was sold.

Anything g-5 is a good choice.. I've shot the strykers and t-3's with awesome results, both have been held up great but you get a little more life out of the stryker if you should happen to make a shoulder shot

I have shot Muzzys for years however I have been extremely disappointed in the strength of the blades, after each kill the blades have had to be tossed in the trash do to bending or breaking.

This year I have switched to g5 Montec and although I haven't a chance to test them on a live animal (give it a month) I have been impressed with their flight patterns on a stationary target.

I love my shuttle t-locks. Group well out to 60 yards and true as my field points!

I have had great sucess with Shuttle T's but you will need to replace blades regularly. For that reason I switched to HellRazors last year. You can resharpen them easily and they can really take a beating. Both heads fly true. Rage heads are never going back in my setup.

I've been using Slick Trick Magnums for a few years now and have great luck with them. They've proven themselves on many deer and a bear. I'm getting ready for antelope in Wyoming and have been shooting them at 60 yards and see very little if any difference between them and field points.

I'm suprised not to hear to much mention of the Rage's, and one person said they will never use them again. A couple years ago they seemed to be the best thing out there, along with the Muzzy's, but not hearing to much from them either.

I tried the Grim Reaper mechanicals three years ago and lost two deer, not much blood at all, maybe they have a new design?

G-5's getting some good reviews here, maybe I'll towards them.

I shot a lot of Wasp Jakhammers the past few years, still have some and use them. I bought some Wasp Bullets last year, used them, liked them, will continue to use them. Bought G5 125 grain Montecs this summer and have only used one, but liked the results. ;)

Heads

75 grain wasp bullets fly like field pionts group great at 60 plus hold together pretty good killed 3 deer same blades just has a smaller cutting diam havent had one deer in three years get away and cheaper than most

One great thing about the Montecs is that you can shoot multiple deer with the same broad head. They sharpen easy and are extremely strong being they are made from one piece of metal. This is nice if you like to shoot several does a year saves on the wallet a little.
