I see a lot of bucks in Iowa with abnormal sides. More than anywhere else I've ever hunted. What do you think causes so much of this? I think it might be fighting and a pedicle is damaged?Rain is growing brow tines.

Geeesh. Hammer.
Fighting. When they shed - usually due to fighting & jarring it non-stop - a chunk of skull comes off with the shed. The following year that side is funky. Sometimes funky is from Injury but vast majority is shedding off a chunk of the skull. My wild guess is- half of em stay funky (sometimes get really cool & neat) - other half kinda return to normal.

Very common here. I have a " doe factory" lol.
I'm stacked with does that birth here.
About once every 2 weeks from spring to early September, a group of bucks will come through and be gone.
Fine by me. Come late October, they know where the girls are.

It is going to be a good fall!
I’m not sure you can draw up a better antler growth year. Minnesota has been so ideal, as we had the mildest winter ever . I’m stoked for prospects in both states !

Haven't gotten any mature buck pics since May 3rd, it will be interesting to see how much they put on in June!
This is when they are dispersed!! We see same thing. IMO- they usually are bedded by some kinda crop (beans for example) & bedding in shade right next to it. Little strip of timber. Or canary grass. Their travel areas are so tiny right now.
