I saw the thread started about the bear spotted up in NE Iowa and reminded me of this. This is right out of town where I grew up in NW Iowa. Talked to a buddy of mine this morning and said it was quite the mess! From what I have been told, they weren't able to get them herded up and they were ruining fence by the minute so they resulted in shooting quite a few of them. I think they could have found a better way but that's what they did.
Think they ended up catching a couple...heard they shot 55 and there are still 5-10 still out and not accounted for. Buddy went out monday night and a little bit Tuesday morning to help. Said he had two of them at 100 yards and couldn't pull the trigger. Said if they were going to cross the road, he would have shot.
I'm sure it would have been spendy but they could have used darts to put them out for a couple hours and got them back to where they needed. Crazy state we have right now. Bears are on the loose, Mountain lion stories, buffalo herd runnin wild, know there were some elk running around too at one point. Jeesh
