Bug suit vs. repellent???

Cornfed

Bowhunting Addict
I would like to spend more time this year hunting the early season to attempt to take a few does off the farm I hunt. My biggest irritation to hunting the early season has always been the mosquitos, gnats, etc. Does anyone use a bugsuit or good repellent? I always feel like I am stinking up the area with repellents... does anyone have a good 'scent-free' one they would recommend?

there is a bug spray, called "no stinkin' bugs" that is supposed to be scent free. i plan on giving the thermocell a shot this year

Hey Teeroy, give us an update on how that thermocell works. I am thinking of getting one but would like to hear first hand if its worth the money.

I use the Shannon suit and lightly apply the No Stink'n Bugs "Fall Blend" to my hands and face area. Not having to spray down my whole body with bug juice is a plus. The suit has a face shield, but it's to annoying to use, limits your vision severly. I hunt some of the most fierce skeeter grounds in the State, it works pretty well for me.

ditto what RBB said minus the juice! Bug tamer is awesome. No need for the pants though!

Bugs......in hunting season??.....Oh I forgot you guys are in the midwest not Canada.

Bug are long gone here by the time the season opens. Early frosts seem to zap em. Judging by the temp tonight, it could be anyday.

My uncle used the thermal cell in Canada for black bear last summer. On the video you can see millions of bugs. He said as long as they had one on they didn't bother them a bit. I plan on giving it a try.
