Callin?

Any kinda calling or rattlin worth much at this time? I have had little happen ever. With any kinda calling except on younins I also am always afraid cause I have no stand a buck cannot get downwind and get a wiff a me!

I saw a nice 8 cruising this morning and wouldn't react to my grunts. I hit the horns a few times and he came running in. Was drawn back on him waiting to clear some saplings then he caught wind of me.

They never respond to my calling either. At best they stop a second or two before continuing on their way.

I've always had good luck with calling. It's been my go-to move when nothing is happening and I want to make something happen. Called in some great bucks with rattling, grunts, and snort wheeze. However, I haven't called in ANYTHING yet this year. Don't know what the deal is...

Same here. Had some awesome encounters. I will say that I generally don't call outside the rut much. Unless I know a deer isn't coming by me anyhow, then let out a bleat or two as a last ditch effort.
For the record, I prefer to use a heavy, but small set of sheds for rattling. I've also used the pak rack ( I think its called ) from Primos with good success.

Grunted snort wheezed and rattled in my biggest buck last night 159 6/8, I typically have luck this time of year.

There is a difference between calling at something you see and blind calling. i always fear just blind calling. Something may be on its way to me I would not see and turn away. Or i might have an unseen buck sneak around behind me and wind me. I have no stand they cannot get around behind. Guess Ill just stay quiet until the bitter end then anything goes.I also think if you have large properties with some mature fighters around it makes a difference...

Brought a couple in rattling so far, they were both very slow n caution tho, one was at last light tonight he made from about 70 yds to 40 in an hour by then it was to dark to see my pins, I waited another 30 min to make sure was gone instead he was posted up 25 yds behind my stand by the buck secent and he took off, hopefully he comes back had a big body and a mess of bone on his head

I like to blind call especially if it's slow, gives me a sense of trying to make things happen. It can get hard for me to sit at times and this is a way to feel productive when I'm thinking of all the other things in life I should be doing. I have a reasonable amount of success with it but ya gotta keep your eyes peeled. I like to use the Primos Buck Roar, Primos Can Call and a rattle bag. Lighter calling seems to have more success and I don't always rattle.
