I remember last year (maybe the year before) alot of people were reporting very little activity only a day or two or three before rut hit. I've noticed this the last three years for sure. Yesterday I saw hardly nothing in a stand that I normally see alot of deer from. I think you better be in the tree this weekend for sure.

Funny Moose...that's exactly what I told my buddy when I got back from a hunt last night. Few does, but all was quiet with perfect conditions.

It's going to bust wide open real soon...you can almost feel it!

It's here in small doses... I saw a 4.5+ buck last night bumping does. Almost time to bo BANG!

I saw a real nice buck about 45 min ago chasing a big doe on a creek bottom. That bucks neck was huge!!! I think that light switch is about to get turned on!

well... today we're going to have cold temps with a northwest wind, and the it will just get warmer over the weekend into next week. hopefully with the cold today, they will be out and about.

Dang I hope the magic day is not November the 4th, I will be en route through Iowa on my way to Kansas that day!!!!

Seriously though, I have seen almost no rutting activity here in MN. There are some scrapes being worked, but I have not seen any bucks bumping does, chasing or anything like that. It is not for the lack of cold weather, we have not seen 30 degrees for three days and it is supposed to be 10 degrees tonight. I was hoping to get some activity before I left for Kansas on Saturday but it doesn't look like it was meant to be.

Interesting...

Last weekend I watched a monster 6 gather up three does and chase off a smaller 8 on Sunday morning about 9-10am...

Last night saw 3 bucks.. all chasing 2 does...

Until about sunset when the big daddy came out and ran everybody off..

I talked to a guy yesterday who has been hunting all day all week. He said he's seen bugger all for activity. He said he saw more moose than deer. He did show me a monster 5pt shed he scooped the other day in the bush.....mint condition from last year. DROOL!!!!
