Long shot but had a buddy shoot a huge bodied buck but had to leave him and lost the cape due to temps. It measured 30". If anyone in here shot a big bodied bully buck and could let the cape go shoot me a message and I'll pass along his contact info and let you guys work it out.

I’ve given 3 large/extra large capes to a taxidermist friend. I didn’t measure neck circumference, but one buck weighed 292#, the other 2 were in the 270’s. All 3 are in excellent shape. Is your buddy committed to a certain taxidermist? This kids work is really good. South Central Iowa

Yeah I believe he is. He's used the same guy for a bunch of mounts. Your friend/taxi interested in selling one?

Just curious I also like to weigh all our deer as well.... Also like to look at the jaw wear , and then follow up by sending in the teeth to matsons lab for centum adging.

Are you weighing the deer before guting somehow?

Yes, I’m fortunate to live on my property. We load them up “whole” in a trailer I pull behind my SXS, pull into the barn where I have an electric cable hoist with a scale attached to it. IMG_9439.jpegIMG_8445.jpegIMG_8448.jpeg
 
I have weighed a ton after gutting but never before. Out of curiosity what what did the 292 and the 270s weigh after gutting?
