This is a deer I have known for the last 5 years.
This first picture was in 2003.

What a Monarch....and very lucky.

Unbelievable is all I can say. What a great history there. That would be unreal to kill him now.

That buck is a stud , I love big brows ! No sheds or pictures in 05 , I bet you thought he was a goner if you didnt have any sightings.

hillrunner......your right, I though for sure he was the victim of winter, a car or poaching. Never saw him or got pictures in '05. I really though I would have found at least one of the sheds from 2005 while looking for others in the area. Just re-enforced my fear of poaching.

You can't believe how excited I was in 2006 when he chased a doe across the road right in front of me. I got very close to killing him twice later in '06, but both times fate was on his side.

Good to see him again. Let's see if you can let the air out of him on your birthday eve this year. ;-)

Great to have such a history with that buck. I know he's taught you some lessons. Now it's your turn to teach HIM a lesson.

That is a real nice deer, I like those long brow tines, and the rest of the rack. Heck I think that is a great buck! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

You have some wonderful history with him. Good luck harvesting "Captain Hook". /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Iowa's number one resource for the whitetail deer.

Not that he wouldn't score good, b/c he would, but score to me takes a backseat to the "looks" of a set of antlers and that buck has a sweet set!!!! I wish you well in your pursuit of that old buck, I know how badly you'd like to add that skull plate to the collection. Seems to me, there is no better place it may spend his afterlife than in your possession. Again, great buck and good luck to you.

I thought the exact same thing. His number his up this fall....stick him! One false move and a horny doe is all you need! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
