Not much time, so I'll try to make a long story short. Got a chance to bowhunt the southern half of the state for the first time this weekend. And of course, Friday morning broke with rain...LOTS of rain. This guy came through at 8:00 and had me pegged at 15 yards. He eventually relaxed and kept moving, giving me a quartering away shot at about 25 yards. On the release he spun away, and the arrow hit him with a classic "Texas Heart Shot" entry :D He stumbled through a draw and died within sight on the next ridge. I was soaked, cold and thrilled.

He has double split brows, with his left one splitting and making a nice 180 degree hook...thus the obvious name. At one time he had 13 points, but he was a little busted up, and one was gone, with several others much shortened.

Getting him out was a story in itself. The little trickling creek from a day earlier was quickly trying to do its' raging river imitation. We had to do a little "improvising" to get him back to the truck, but luckily we had the youthful legs of nwhawk on our side :drink2: His dad giggled and snapped pictures while we slipped in the mud and drug him through thigh deep water :D

It was a great weekend, and hopefully the southern trip can become an annual event. Don't know what he'll score...and don't really care. He's my best bow buck to date, and definitely has the most character of any buck I've shot. Lots of good bucks going down in the past few days, so good luck to those of you still out after 'em :way:

Heck of a deer and story!! I'm glad everything came together. Darn good thing the crick didn't come up anymore ;) Looking forward to next year already!
