Yesterday I scouted an area that I haven't hunted much and found a pretty good funnel with 3 trails coming into it.I found out that the farmer is about to let about 35 head of cattle loose into the timber.I have'nt ever hunted around cattle before. Will this have any impact on the area or do deer and cattle "coexist".
Thanks for any imput.

I would look for a new spot. Deer may move through the area but they will not stay in the same timber as the cows.

From my experience cows and deer don't mix very well. Last year the cows would follow me to my stand and they also like the smell of doe-n-heat. I would definatly look for a different spot. Usually by November the farmer pulls them out of the timber and pastures them. Good luck!

One of the main spots I hunt is a river bottom that is full of cattle all summer every year. The farmer usually brings them back up to the farm around the middle to late sept.

There is hardly ever any deer on this river bottom in the summer through early fall. But come late Oct., when the bucks are cruising, the deer filter down to the bottom. I actually use cattle trails as a scouting tool, cause when the deer come down there, the deer will adapt and use the cattle trails as there own.

One of my stand sites used to be in a corner of a pasture bordering two fields. The cows when they were out would follow me to my stand and a few of them would stand there and look up at me in my stand. After awhile they would wander off, but some of them would just stand there and look up at me.

I hate the words cattle with a passion. On my grannies farm, we have crappy fences so the neighbor which owns some killer ground lets his cows out as soon as both are crops are out, and they roam our timber and his timber. while hunting the first few weeks The deer sightings are very very good, but as soon as the cows are out the deer sightings drop significantly and are pushed out of there. they still cruise the area but not as much with no cows. We would fix the fence but if we did then we would lose about 500 acres of prime hunting because the agreement is, if he can put the cows in our timber too we can hunt all his ground anytime we want. If you do decide to hunt with the cows bring a slingshot and a bunch of rocks. when those cows follow you to your stand, just start pelting them with rocks, they leave almost immediately
